In an effort to help the children of Proniño maintain a
relationship with their family, we have instituted a system of visits to
the
areas where they originated from.
Unlike
where we typically receive incoming street children to the center,
usually the
street itself typically San Pedro Sula or El Progreso, the child
protection
agency located in San Pedro, or the family courts of El Progreso, these
visits
encompass a large area.
This latest trip
was to Santa Barbara, a department about 3 hours northwest of El
Progreso, up
in the mountains.
We left with me, a
visiting volunteer Gina Mortimer, and 4 kids from Proniño from the
region:
Oscar, Giovanni, and the two Bautista brothers Henry and Brendi, this
past
Sunday morning.
